How many signatures can you gather on the Petition in the next week? If you gather more than anyone else, AYEA will send you to Juneau to hand-deliver the signatures to our Legislators! Report how many signatures you have to Maeve (taylorm@nwf.org) or call 339-3907 by Friday April 3.

Fax your signatures to Maeve at (907) 339-3980
or Scan and Email them to taylorm@nwf.org.

We only have a couple of weeks left to try and get the $50 million for Renewable Energy into the State Budget this year! Here are ideas on where to gather signatures:
- At your school (gather between classes, at lunch, or hold an Assembly!)
- At local businesses like the grocery store.
- At community events or meetings.
- Ask all your Friends on Facebook and MySpace to sign the online petition at www.ayea.org!

You can also help get the money in the budget by writing Letters to the Editor and to your legislators!
- To find out how to write a letter to the editor go to: http://ayea.org/WordPress/resources/action-tools/
- To find out who your legislator is look at the Blog under RE Resources and click on “Find Your Legislator”.
- Hold a Letter Writing Party with your friends next week and send out lots of letters supporting Renewable Energy!

But the Campaign won’t be over after this spring’s Legislative Session! We have lots to do to make sure that there is money in the Alaska budget next year – so we’ll be making presentations and gathering signatures all summer! Then next fall, Campaign Leaders will get to take all the signatures gathered and present them to the Governor!

Get Involved on Our Next Campaign Call – Wednesday, April 8 at 6pm (call in at 1-800-791-2345 and enter the passcode 33749#.)

CAMPAIGN UPDATE! notes and action items from the last meeting

The campaign continues as AYEA teens collect signatures across the state!!!!!!!
-Juneau will collect 500-750 signatures
-Mt Edgecumbe: 750-1,000 sigs
-Homer: 500-700
-Anchorage 1,000-1,500
-Palmer, Fairbanks, Chefornak, Fairbanks, Yakutat, and Dillingham: to be announced! They will post these on Google Docs and the Blog and everyone can use them as examples to write their own letters.
- Everyone should think about cool stories of RE in their own or neighboring communities. Soon we will be helping people create digital stories if you have a good idea for one. Jeff and Joe are going to help train people.
- Those attending the Civics Summit will be able to show the Legislators (and maybe the Governor!) how many signatures we've collected so far. So get busy collecting signatures!
- We will do lots of presentations in March, April, and May - so start thinking about who your audiences will be for your presentations.

Next Meeting - Thursday, March 5, 6pm.

THE PETITION

HEY:
Download the petition to start collecting signatures.

Click here to access the PDF version of the petition.
